Joel Wallace to Lead Alligator Aquatics as Head Coach

Alligator Aquatics is pleased to announce that Joel Wallace has accepted the position of Head Coach.  Joel has over twenty years’ coaching experience, including head coaching experience, coaching and developing swimmers of all ages and abilities, as well as demonstrated abilities in club development and growth.  Joel is well known and well respected within Illinois Swimming

A native of Michigan, Joel grew up in Birmingham, Michigan.  He swam at both the University of Tennessee and Oakland University. Joel has coached both water polo and competitive swimming in schools, YMCA programs, and USA Swimming programs in Michigan and Illinois.  Over his career he has progressed from an age group coach, to head age group coach, to head senior coach, to head coach in USA Swimming programs.  Joel’s coaching philosophy is one of developing proper technique and fundamental skills at an early age and through conscious reinforcement as well as systematically building of a swimmer’s strength and speed over the course of a season and career.

Some of Joel’s swimming and coaching accomplishments include:

  • 15-time All-American Swimmer
  • 3-time All-American water polo player
  • Olympic Trial Qualifier
  • American Swimming Coaching Association Level 4 & Certified Stroke Technician
  • Coached a swimmer to set 10 Para-American records
  • Coaching swimmers to over 65 State Championship titles
  • Coaching swimmers break over 150 club records
  • Qualified swimmers for the USA Junior, Senior National Championships, & USA National Team

We are confident that Joel will be an excellent leader for the Alligator swimmers, coaches, and families, now and in the years to come.
