John Naber is a five-time Olympic medalist, being the most decorated American athlete at the 1976 Games in Montreal, winning four gold and one silver medal. The four gold medals were all swum in world record times.
At the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Naber served as a board member on the 2984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee in addition to carrying the Olympic Flag into the 1984 Opening Ceremonies. Naber was also chosen to carry the Olympic Flame in three separate Olympic Torch Relays.
The legacy of the 1984 Games still lives on in the participants, bringing in a stong kinship among the city of Los Angeles for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games.
