Jordan Crooks 17.93 50 Free! REACTION & ANALYSIS

2023 SEC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Jordan Crooks made history last night at the SEC Championships by becoming the 2nd man in history to break the 18-second barrier in the 50y freestyle.

We take a look at his race and dissect what sets Crooks apart, from his mentality to his elite underwater work. We also show his real time reaction after the race and how much love and support he gets shown from his team after the monumental accomplishment.

I hate to say it, but I fear that Crooks’ emergence in the 50 free, added to Popovici’s in the 100 free and Milak’s in the 100 fly, makes it less likely that Dressel comes back. As much as I’d like to deny it, it’s hard to believe that Dressel’s withdrawal from Worlds had nothing to do with what it looked like Popovici was going to do in the 100 after having gone 1:43.2 in the 200 the day before. It might also have had something to do with what it looked like Milak was going to do in the 100 fly after absolutely cruising a 1:52.3 in the 200 fly semis (he would go on to swim 1:50.3 in… Read more »

He will break Dressel’s record in the 50 at NCAA’s Dressel was never under 18 during the season. Crooks was 17.9 Watch Crooks have another big drop. Where has dressel been???

Crooks was slower in most events last year at NCs vs SECs, no?

Not saying that’ll also happen this year, but would slightly temper my expectations.
