In 2012, the zodiac sign which most U.S. Olympic Team swimmers aligned with was Pisces. It was fitting, seeing as Pisces symbolizes a fish.
2016 is a different year, however, and the spread is not so overwhelmingly in favor of Pisces. Take a look at the differences below:

Things are more evenly spread out this year, though Pisces is still one of the dominant signs. Leo has the most, with seven swimmers having that sign, including Simone Manuel, who turns 20 years old today.
Leo is the lion symbol. Lions are capable of reaching speeds of 50 mph (or 80 kmh), and while they are good swimmers, there is little data out on the interwebs to support a claim that they’re fast swimmers.
IDEA: Leo can symbolize SEA LIONS instead. Sea lions can swim quicker than 10mph, which is pretty fast for a mammal. Consider this: When Frenchman Frédérick Bousquet broke the 50 free LCM world record in 2009 (20.94), he averaged 5.3 mph.
BOTTOM LINE: Sea lions are faster swimmers than humans. The most common zodiac sign on the U.S. team is Leo, which we have now equated to sea lions. Therefore, the American Olympic team is going to be really fast, and if we can teach our sea lions how to do proper dives and flip turns, we will have no trouble racking up a plethora of gold medals. The best thing about sea lions is that they are all-natural– no doping necessary!
