Jovan Lekic and Lana Pudar Break Bosnian National Records at Euro Juniors

2021 EUROPEAN JUNIOR SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

17-year-old Jovan Lekic took down his own Bosnian and Herzegovinian National record in the 1500 free at the 2021 European Junior Championships on Thursday with a time of 15:17.83. He finished in 6th place and took exactly four seconds off his previous record from prelims on Wednesday.

This is his second National record of the meet after he broke the 400 free record on Tuesday with a time of 3:50.79. He won silver just .11 behind the first-place finisher Batuhan Filiz of Turkey.

Lekic has also been crushing National records left and right. In April, he broke the 800 free and 200 fly National records. Now he holds a total of five Bosnian and Herzegovinian National records in long course:

  • 200 free – 1:50.04 (2020)
  • 400 free – 3:50.79 (2021)
  • 800 free – 8:06.82 (2021)
  • 1500 free – 15:17.83 (2021)
  • 200 fly – 2:01.23 (2021)

He has the chance to improve his 800 free record at the European Junior Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

His teammate, 15-year-old Lana Pudar, broke the Bosnian and Herzegovina National record in the 200 fly. She won silver with a time of 2:09.59, crushing the previous record that was set at 2:09.73 by Amina Kajtaz in 2019. Now, Pudar has swept all three long course butterfly National records:

  • 50 fly – 27.05 (2021)
  • 100 fly – 57.37 (2021)
  • 200 fly – 2:09.59 (2021)

Pudar set about collecting National records before December 2020. At the age of 14, she had broken Kajtaz’s 50scm fly, 100scm fly, and 50lcm fly National records. Kajtaz still holds the National records in the 50 back, 200 free, and 200 IM.
