Juliana Villa Rodriguez Transfers to Lindsey Wilson College

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Juliana Villa Rodriguez, a current college sophomore from Cali, Colombia, has committed to swim for NAIA DI Lindsey Wilson College. Rodriguez will be transferring from Iowa Lakes Junior College to Lindsey Wilson– marking the end of her two-year collegiate career at the junior college, where only a two-year program is offered.

While at Iowa Lake Junior College, Rodriguez made quite an impact on the team. At the 2020 NJCAA Championships, she placed 6th in the 200 backstroke (2:16.65) and 9th in the 100 backstroke (1:01.67). She was also the team’s leading scorer at the 2019 NJCAA Championships along with being the team’s top relay swimmer for the women.

Her strong performances in the backstroke events was one of the things that stood out to Lindsey Wilson coach Alicia Kemnitz.

“As a program, we take pride in the strength we exhibit in our 200s of strokes, so she will fit in perfectly with how we train. Her backstroke will be a welcome addition to our relays, but one of the things that really attracted me to her was also how solid she is in her freestyle events too.”

Kemnitz went on to say that Rodriguez will most likely find a spot on all five of their A relays.

This year at the 2020 Mid-South Conference Championships with her current best times, Rodriguez would have placed 4th in the 200 backstroke (2:08.88) and 6th in the 100 backstroke (59.82) with Lindsey Wilson.

In addition, she would have placed 11th in the 200 backstroke (2:08.88) and 14th in the 100 backstroke (59.82) at the 2020 NAIA National Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee.

At the Mid-South Championships this year, the Blue Raider’s placed 4th as a team.  A few weeks later, the team placed 12th at the NAIA National Championships.

Rodriguez will begin swimming for Lindsey Wilson College fall 2020.
