Junior Nationals Diving Medalist Commits to Georgia

The swimmers aren’t having all of the fun in recruiting this fall. Ian Forlini, a former Junior National medalist on the 3-meter, has verbally committed to dive at Georgia.

Forlini hails from Warminster, Pennsylvania, a far northern suburb of Philadelphia, where he dives with Centennial Diving and William Tennent High School under Steve Kuttruff.

At the 2011 Junior National Championships, Forlini placed 4th on the 1-meter and 3rd on the 3-meter springboard events. He has had some success in his career on platform, but his focus is largely on the springboard events.

He also placed 27th on the 3-meter at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.

This will be a welcome addition to the Georgia team that desperately whose women’s diving program has been showing great improvement, but whose men needed some serious help. The Georgia men only entered one diver at last year’s SEC Championships, and he placed 24th on the 1-meter for a single point, and took last place in the other two events.
