Jenny Nusbaum, who swims for YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA) and Green Hope High School in Cary, North Carolina, has verbally committed to swim for the University of Kansas.
“I chose Kansas because while I was on my official visit the team was so welcoming and fun to be around. I loved the coaches and team atmosphere; I can’t wait to see what the next 4 years have in store for me at KU! Rock chalk!
“I would like to give a shoutout to all my coaches on YOTA who have helped get me this far, special thanks to Jonathan Kaplan, Jack Roney, and Chad Onken.”
Nusbaum placed 12th in the 50 free at the 2015 NCHSAA 4A State Championships and anchored Green Hope’s 200 medley and 200 free relays. She had a strong summer season which culminated in a third-place finish in the 200m free and a 17th in the 400 free at YMCA Long Course Nationals. Nusbaum’s best times are:
SCY | LCM | |
50 free | 24.14 | 26.89 |
100 free | 52.37 | 58.11 |
200 free | 1:51.13 | 2:04.82 |
500/400 free | 4:59.57 | 4:25.69 |
100 fly | 57.74 | 1:05.88 |
Nusbaum will be helpful to Kansas straight away, as her 200 free would have scored in the B final and her 500 free/100 fly, the C final, at 2015 Big 12 Championships. It took 23.9/52.2 to get a second swim in the 50/100 freestyles.
