Kansas State Champion Maci McCullough Verbally Commits to Arkansas-Little Rock

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Maci McCullough of Wichita, Kansas has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock as a member of the class of 2024. McCullough swims for Wichita Northwest YMCA Neptunes as well as Wichita West High School.

“When I went to visit Little Rock it felt like home. Coach Amy and the team were so friendly and welcoming. I cannot wait to be a Trojan next year!”

A versatile swimmer, McCullough competed in the 100 and 200 freestyle races at the 2019 Kansas 6A Girls State Championship. She was the state champion in the 200 free (1:51.87) as well as taking second in the 100 free (52.37). This summer she swam at the Futures Championships in Des Moines, competing in the 100 free (1:00.82), 200 free (2:10.33), and the 200 IM (2:29.40).

Top SCY Times

  • 100 free – 52.37
  • 200 free – 1:51.87
  • 500 free – 5:02.51
  • 200 IM – 2:07.53
  • 400 IM – 4:29.85

With her best times McCullough would have scored in the A-final of both the 100 and 200 freestyles at the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships. She would have qualified for the B-final in both the 200 and 400 IM. Little Rock had just one scorer in the 100 free at last year’s conference championship meet, the now-graduated Lindsey Butler. The same is true for the 200 free, in the form of the now-graduated Claire Bristow.

In spite of that, Little Rock still had the 3rd-place 400 free relay at last year’s Missouri Valley championship, and the 5th-place 800 free relay. That entire 400 free relay graduated, though, and as such will be looking for reinforcements from this class of 2020. Little Rock finished 6th at that meet out of 8 teams.
