Katharine Berkoff: “I wouldn’t change anything about my past experiences”

2023 U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Katharine Berkoff had a huge swim in the 100 back last week, touching for 2nd behind Regan Smith in a personal best of 58.01. Berkoff admitted she has had her fair share of heartbreak in that event but wouldn’t change anything about her past experiences, knowing that they all led her to this swim.

It’s all lining up for Katharine to be the best in the world in the 100 back.

She’s figured out a better race strategy, she’s training more LCM, she upped her mental game.

She hit a 58.0 so she’s right up there now with Regan, Kaylee, and Masse.

The women’s 100 back at WCs will be another great race.

it would be a surprise but not that big of a surprise. Her turnover is as good as Regan or Kaylee. She has to nail that turn and underwaters like Regan does and hold onto her speed and we could see a 57 low from her/.

I don’t mean this in a demeaning way but she sometimes sounds stoned in her interviews. I understand people just talk that way but it is kind of funny. I hope she kicks some butt at Worlds.

Cum laude in Microbiology with minors in genetics and environmental science. Perhaps she’s just really smart.

Maybe the beginning when she’s talking about “feeling weird and all tingly and stuff” it sounds like she’s describing an shrooms trip.

But the rest sounds fine to me.

Almost glad I was no where near good enough to be interviewed about anything because the comments would be pretty harsh lol

The vocal fry is a widespread thing now. Blame (or thank?) the Kardashians.

I heard her say once she gets really nervous for interviews and thinks she’s not good at them. Maybe it’s that. I bet they’ll get better with time and practice.

When I hear her talk, she just comes across as maybe a little bit camera-shy/anxious, which is totally understandable.
