Kathleen Gani Stays Local with Pacific Commitment

California’s Kathleen Gani has given her verbal commitment to stay in the Golden State and swim for the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

Gani is from Diamond Bar, California, and she can competitively swim all four strokes. She swims for Brea Aquatics and Diamond Bar High School, and has an individual school record in the 200 IM. She also has winter juniors cuts in the 100 yard fly and 200 yard IM.

Her best times are:

Event  Time (SCY) Time (LCM)
100 Free  51.90(r)  59.81
100 Breast  1:06.19  1:15.64
100 Fly  55.99  1:03.84
200 IM  2:02.35  2:21.87

Gani will be a valuable addition to Pacific’s women’s team, as she is capable of providing an immediate scoring impact. Comparing her times to Pacific’s list of top performers last season (2015-2016), Gani would have ranked 4th on the team in the 100 free, 3rd in the 100 breast, 5th in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 200 IM. When she arrives on campus, Gani will have one season to train alongside Pacific’s top IMer, Whitney Jorgensen, and top butterflier, Kenna Ramey.

At the 2016 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Gani’s times would have placed her in the A final of the 200 IM, and the C final of the 100 free, 100 fly and 100 breast.
