Comeback kid Katie Hoff was already off to hot start at the Gulliver LC Invite when she showed off her speed in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke, but Hoff wasn’t done.
On Sunday morning, the comeback kid took off in the 200 IM. She was again faster than she was in Mesa by about three tenths, and her time of 2:12.65 would’ve earned her a lane in the top 8 at Charlotte. She would’ve been second behind Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu, making her the fastest American woman.
Even though this was a local meet with no top tier competition, Hoff’s time puts her in the top 25 in the world this year.
Hoff was scheduled to swim the 100 back and fly during the same session, but she ended up being a no show.
In terms of what’s next for Hoff, all we know is that Nationals is on her calendar. But judging by her performance at this local meet, it’s safe to say others will be on her horizon before Irvine rolls around in August.
Awesome job Katie. We are all behind you!
Well done Katie! Keep it up!
She also went 2:32.64 for the 200m breast, out in 1:13.27.
