Katinka Hosszu Breaks 400 IM U.S. Open Record, Now Holds Both U.S. Open Marks in the IM

Katinka Hosszu, in the prelims of day two of the Arena Pro Swim Series at Santa Clara, has broken the U.S. Open record in the 400 individual medley. Her time of 4:31.07 knocks five hundredths off of Katie Hoff‘s old record from back in 2008.

A look at their comparative splits:

Hoff, 2008: 1:03.69/1:09.64/1:15.32/1:02.47 = 4:31.12

Hosszu, 2015: 1:01.99/1:08.89/1:18.37/1:01.82 = 4:31.07

When Hosszu broke the 200 IM U.S. Open record in May, she out-split Julia Smit (the previous record holder) in every leg but the breaststroke; a similar trend is seen when you compare Hosszu to Hoff in the 400 version of the race.

In addition to now holding U.S. Open marks for both IM races, the 200 and the 400, Hosszu has notched a season best, improving upon her own world-leading time of 4:31.39. Time will tell if she has more in the tank to lower her new record further tonight, as she races in finals. Hosszu will also swim in the 200 freestyle, where she holds the top seed going into finals as well.

I ove those pics . That is a 10 pack Abs and Pecs Steel combo special .

Boys – if Katinka can do it , why do you have chest protuberances ?

Go for the ultra sleek look . It is like the 60s furniture designs in art galleries .

Count me in now as a Katinka fan – in the name of art & design .

Killer statement swim from Hosszu. She definitely wanted to make sure and take down the US Open record – especially after that nasty swimming world article. She won´t be faster tonight.
