Katinka Hosszu Scores New Hungarian National Record In 200 Free

The #IronLady didn’t disappoint with her first race of the day in Dubai. Katinka Hosszu blasted a new Hungarian National Record right off the bat, registering a new mark of 1:55.41.  Her speedy performance today knocked four tenths of a second off of her previous national record mark of 1:55.81 from the World Cup in Hong Kong back in September.

Here is a breakdown of splits between the 2 races:

Hosszu Hong Kong: 27.22, 28.97, 29.73, 29.89 = 1:55.81
Hosszu Dubai: 26.88, 28.94, 30.00, 29.59 = 1:55.41

In today’s race, Hosszu was the fastest of the field on the way out and the 2nd-fastest on the final 50 coming home; only Britain’s Jazz Carlin nabbed a quicker final split of 29.52 to wind up with the bronze.

Hosszu’s new mark now registers as the 5th-fastest on the year, only behind Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (1:54.31), the Netherlands’ Femke Heemskerk (1:54.68), Italy’s Federica Pellegrini (1:55.00) and America’s Katie Ledecky (1:55.16).  But, Hosszu still falls just outside of the t0p 10 performers of all-time, coming in at #11 with her time today.

For Hosszu, per her usual monster line-up schedule, she is just getting started on this last stop of the 2015 World Cup.
