Hungary’s Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu just completed an impressive string of performances at the European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen. Hosszu wrapped up a 6-event gold medal-winning haul, topping the podium in the 100m IM, 200m IM, 400m IM, 50m back, 100m back, and 200m back to help Hungary surge to the runner-up spot in the overall medal standings.
As incredible as Hosszu is in her aquatic environment, the 28-year-old acknowledges greatness in other sports that helps motivate the swimmer in her own element. Leveraging her own brand of ‘Iron’, Hosszu recently sent American basketball icon Lebron James an advanced version of a unique streetwear hoodie, complete with a personalized sentiment.
“Dear Lebron, you may not even know how much you helped me reach my goal. On my way to my fourth Olympics in Rio and with the goal to get my first ever Olympic medal I followed your direction many times when I was facing an obstacle. ‘What would Lebron do now?’, I asked myself many times, because your approach, tenacity and professionalism is exemplary to me. Following your philosophy helped me reach my goal and win 3 gold and 1 silver medals in Rio. Words can’t describe how thankful I am. Please let me express my gratitude with one personalized piece of my first-ever Iron Streetwear product.”
We reached out to James’ agent for comment, but have not received a response.
