UNC has announced on Instagram that Katja Pavicevic and Alexandra White will both arrive this fall as graduate transfers.
Pavicevic arrives after spending four years at UCSD. As a freshman in 2020, Pavicevic was ninth in the 200 IM at the Division II NCAA Championships. She swam a 2:01.84 in finals. The next day, she swam a 4:23.92 in prelims of the 400 IM for 10th place before the rest of the meet was canceled due to COVID-19.
Pavicevic did not compete during the 2020-2021 season, so she technically does not have the “extra” fifth year, as this upcoming fall will instead be her “fourth” year of eligibility.
As a junior, Pavicevic won Mountain Pacific titles in the 200 IM (2:00.66) and 200 breast (2:13.45). She also was second in the 100 breast in a 1:01.83. She was UCSD’s highest individual scorer as she scored 57 points.
In her senior season, she swept the breaststroke events at the conference meet as she swam a 1:00.83 in the 100 breast and a 2:09.06 in the 200 breast. She also was second in the 200 IM in a 2:00.63.
Pavicevic’s best SCY times:
- 100 breast: 1:00.83
- 200 breast: 2:09.06
- 200 IM: 2:00.28
Pavicevic’s best time in the 200 breast would have made the A final and her best in the 100 breast would have made the B final at ACCs this past season.
White will travel back to her home state after spending four years in Ohio at Division III Kenyon College. White will be using her COVID-19 fifth year as she competed in the 2020-2021 season.
As a junior at Kenyon, White made two A finals at Division III NCAAs. White finished third in the 50 free swimming a 22.92 and was eighth in the 100 free with a 50.95. She was Kenyon’s sixth-highest individual scorer as she scored 27 points, helping the team to an NCAA title.
This past March, White once again made two A finals at Division III NCAAs. White went on to finish third in the 50 free (22.82) and fifth in the 100 free (50.41).
White’s best times are:
- 50 free: 22.82
- 100 free: 50.18
- 200 free: 1:52.81
White’s best 50 free time would have tied for fifth on the UNC roster this past season. Notably, though, the team graduates fifth-year Grace Countie, their best sprinter, who made the NCAA A final. White is also just off making the C final at ACCs as it took a 22.71 this past season.
Outside of swimming, White works as a head club coach for a small club team (SERF) and teaches private swim lessons. She has been an Orientation Leader, STEM Mentor, a member of the athletic advising club (KSACC), a part of a campus-wide planning group (Social Board), and a volunteer at the local elementary school. She has been on the merit list and is a scholar all-American. She is also a certified phlebotomist!
