Women’s Recap
WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Keene State College women’s swimming & diving team captured the Little East Conference (LEC) championships for a conference record 18th time after totaling a LEC-record 855 points over the last three days of competition at the Boston Sports Institute.
Bridgewater State University was the runner-up in the team standings with 719 points following a back-and-forth battles with third-place Eastern Connecticut State University (704). Westfield State University (540) and Rhode Island College (339) rounded out the top-five in the team standings, followed by Plymouth State University (297), Western Connecticut State University (250), UMass Dartmouth (205) and Western New England University (185).
The 2022 LEC Diver of the Year is Bridgewater State’s Alexa Wilson, while Keene State’s Kiley Young was named the 2022 LEC Swimmer of the Year. Westfield State had a trio of major award recipients in 2022 LEC Rookie Swimmer of the Year Alexa Richter, 2022 LEC Rookie Diver of the Year Kara Banagan, and 2022 LEC Coach of the Year Dave Laing.
Men’s Recap
WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men’s swimming & diving team made history over the past three days at the Boston Sports Institute, as it captured the first-ever Little East Conference (LEC) men’s swimming & diving championship title. The Bears totaled 945 points to take home the team title.
Keene State College was the runner-up in the team standings with 858 points, followed by Eastern Connecticut State University (560), Plymouth State University (320) and Western Connecticut State University (311).
The Owls had a pair of major award winners in 2022 LEC Swimmer of the Year Tyler Young and 2022 LEC Rookie Swimmer of the Year Aidan Urnezis. Eastern Connecticut’s Sarit Gluz was voted the 2022 Coach of the Year.
