Kentucky has a strong distance free group led by Isaac Jones and Drew Aviotti, though only Jones will still be on campus when Smith gets to Lexington.

Smith would’ve just snuck in for 24th place in the 1650 free at last year’s SEC Championships. He will join Hank Siefert as a Wildcat freshman next season. The two complement each other well, as Siefert is a very strong 200-500 freestyler himself.
