Kenyon Adds to Verbal Haul; Picks Up NJ Backstroker Kate Alexy

Kate Alexy, of Mendham, New Jersey, has verbally committed to the Kenyon College Ladies for the 2017-18 season. Alexy is a backstroker from West Morris Mendham High School and Somerset Hills YMCA. She shared with SwimSwam:

“Kenyon is the perfect fit for me because of its long-standing tradition of high achievement, collaborative spirit, and ideal balance between academics and sports.  I was looking for a school that would not only challenge me as a student and an athlete, but also provide me with experiences to help shape my career choice. The professors, students, coaches, and swimmers at Kenyon exhibit an amazing team dynamic and share the same core value of “success through teamwork.” I felt an immediate sense of belonging on my visit and am very excited knowing I will be a part of the future of Kenyon swimming.  I can’t wait to fulfill my dream of being a college student-athlete as a Kenyon Lady!”

At the 2016 New Jersey Public State Swimming Championships Alexy placed 12th in the 100 back and 20th in the 50 free. She also swam the leadoff leg of the West Morris Mendham medley relay. In club swimming, she competed in the 50 free and 100/200 back at the 2016 YMCA Short Course National Championships in April, and in the 50 free and 50/100/200 back at the YMCA Long Course Nationals in July. Alexy wrapped up her summer long course season with a final in the 200m back at College Park Futures.
