Tyler Lu of the KING Aquatic Club in Federal Way, Washington has broken the 11-12 National Age Group Record in the 200 back at the February Age Group Invite in nearby Olympia on Saturday.
Lu swam a 1:53.36 that broke Destin Lasco’s 1:53.42 done in 2014. Lu’s previous best was a 1:55.43 done in December.
The comparative splits:
Total | |||||
Tyler Lu (New Record) | 26.90 | 28.67 | 29.15 | 28.64 | 1:53.36 |
Destin Lasco (Old Record) | 26.73 | 29.02 | 29.15 | 28.52 | 1:53.42 |
This will likely be Lu’s last meet before aging up into the 13-14 age group.
It is really amazing, how can he manage to swim such a wonderful time split, mentally tough and strong!!
He is still very very small, expecting his future world record!!
Tyler continues to amaze me, he is close to the 100 and 200 breast records as well but he is going to age up this month.
I used to swim with him. He doesn’t have a single weak stroke.
Assuming this was accomplished at Evergreen State College pool in Olympia, WA…not reputed to be “quick” water…amazing performance, WTG!
That’s a big drop. Maybe he will get close to some 13-14 records?
I’m shocked when a Destin Lasco’s NAG record is broken.
He looks a small guy, how tall is he( I guess he is 5’5″ )? My son’s a friend who is 6’2″, he got 1:57.28 in 12 years old.
So Tyler is amazing! The record even is faster than most 13-14 boy swimmers 200 FREESTYLE time!
