Kolesnikov Won’t Swim 200 Back Heats on Day 6 of World Juniors

6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships

Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov, who was entered in the 50 back, 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM, has been a no-show all week. The #1 seed in the men’s 200 back on the final morning of heats will thus pass to Hugo Gonzalez of Spain with his entry time of 1:57.00. Kolesnikov is the World Junior Record-holder in the event, with 1:55.14, which he swam in the final at World Championships in Budapest this summer. Kolesnikov finished just off the podium in fourth place.

The only other swimmer to scratch out of the top 24 is Jarryd Baxter of South Africa, who was seeded 13th in the men’s 1500 free but will not be swimming the race tomorrow morning.

In the men’s 4×100 medley, Mozambique did not enter a team, and Algeria scratched.

Hungary will not be swimming in the women’s 4×100 medley heats.
