Komisarz-Baugh Lands Wisconsin State Champ in First Recruiting Class at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women’s swimming and diving team has added five new swimmers for the 2014-15 season, head coach Rachel Komisarz-Baugh announced Wednesday.

“I’m very excited about our first recruiting class,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “We worked hard to assemble the best group of women who can contribute at the conference and NCAA level.”

The first is Corrin Van Lanen, a sprinter from Green Bay, Wis. The 2012 100-yard butterfly state champion is the daughter of Kelly and Stacy Van Lanen and plans to major in psychology.

“Corrin will bring strength and depth to the sprint program at Ohio. She has a lot of power and will be a key player in our relays,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “She continues to show improvement throughout her high school career and her passion for the sport is infectious.”

Next is Ana Henderson, who hails from Danville, Calif. Henderson is the daughter of Philip and Lisa Henderson, and has earned a Junior National Cut in her current season in the 200-yard butterfly. The San Francisco Giants fan has also earned the All-American Swimming award for three years running.

“Ana brings a lot of versatility to the Bobcats,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “She will be able to make an immediate impact in our line-up at dual meets and at the conference championships. Her in-season times are already showing huge progress and I’m excited to see her improvements at the end of the season.”

Next is Brittany Creasy, an energetic butterfly and freestyle swimmer from Canton, Ga. She plans to major in communications and is the daughter of Brian and Paul Creasy. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly at the 2014 Georgia Senior State Championship.

“Brittany’s vibrant personality caught my attention right away,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “She has great energy and an enormous amount of talent.  I’m eager to work with her and see her progress at Ohio.”

Next, the Bobcats will gain Maddie Wyke, a butterfly swimmer from Columbus, Ind. She has been a state-finalist for three years running and is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Wyke. She plans on majoring in biological sciences.

“Maddie’s desire and enthusiasm to get better will help drive her to the next level,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “Maddie has all the tools to be a key player on the Ohio Bobcat roster next year.  I’m thrilled to have her on the team and believe she is a great asset to our program.”

Finally, the last new face of the Bobcats is Kimberly Zehnder, another butterfly swimmer who is coming to Athens from Louisville, Ky. She is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Zehnder and also participated in field hockey. She plans on majoring in biological sciences and intends to be either an orthodontist or a dentist.

“Kimberly has a ton of potential,” Komisarz-Baugh said. “She has a great foundation of training and beautiful strokes.  Her commitment to her academic and athletic development is exactly what we look for in our student-athletes. I’m excited to see Kimberly develop throughout her collegiate career. ”

“This group fits the team dynamic and culture we are building at Ohio University and has the ability to continue to move the program in the right direction,” Komisarz-Baugh said.
