Kristina Hendrick And Sharae Zheng Earn Mountain West Weekly Awards

MOUNTAIN WEST WOMEN’S SWIMMER & DIVER OF THE WEEK

UNLV’s Kristina Hendrick and Nevada’s Sharae Zheng honored

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV senior Kristina Hendrick has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while Nevada junior Sharae Zheng has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition through November 6, 2016. It is the first MW weekly honor for Hendrick and the second accolade for Zheng.

The Mountain West Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 15-18 at the Texas A&M Natatorium in College Station, Texas.

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

KRISTINA HENDRICK, UNLV

Senior, Santa Maria, California / Ernest Righetti HS

• Was one of the top swimmers for UNLV last week as the Rebels split meets with Utah and BYU.
• Won two individual races and placed third in two additional events in the 178-122 loss to the Utes on Friday.
• In the 160-120 win over the Cougars on Saturday, won one individual race and placed second in three other events.
• Won the 100-yard breaststroke in both meets. She posted the second-fastest time in the MW this season on Friday of 1:03.61, followed by a 1:04.10 on Saturday.
• Won the 200-yard individual medley on Friday with a time of 2:04.80 and placed second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.05) on Saturday.
• Against Utah also swam the 200-yard breaststroke (3^rd; 2:20.61) and the third leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (3^rd; 1:38.17).
• Swam legs of the second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:46.33) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:30.43) teams against BYU.

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK

SHARAE ZHENG, NEVADA

Junior, Chengdu, China / Sport School of Sichuan Province

• Won both springboard events for Nevada in a double-dual meet victory over Cal State East Bay and UC Davis.
• Won the 1-meter springboard event with an NCAA-qualifying score of 348.85.
• Took the 3-meter title with an NCAA-qualifying, and pool-record, score of 409.80.
• Both marks are tops in the Mountain West this season.
