Kromowidjojo Drops 24.3 50 Free to Close Eindhoven Cup

2017 EINDHOVEN CUP

Dutch sprinter Ranomi Kromowidjojo finished up her stint at the 2017 Eindhoven Cup with another win, taking the 50 free. She was 24.39 for the victory, one of three swimmers under 25 seconds. 2nd went to Tamara van Vliet (24.77) and Femke Heemskerk touched at 24.83 for 3rd.

The Czech Republic’s Martina Moravcikova took the women’s 50 breast, going 31.76 to edge ahead of Dutch teenager Tes Schouten (31.84). Schouten, who posted the 100 breast win earlier in the meet, broke the Dutch age group record for 17-year-olds with her time tonight in the 50.

Meanwhile, Ferry Weertman followed up multiple freestyle wins with a victory tonight in the men’s 1500. His time of 15:09.03 gave him another gold medal after taking both the 200 free and 400 free earlier this weekend. 2nd went to the Czech Republic’s Jan Micka (15:22.24).

In the 200 IM, Simona Baumrtova of the Czech Republic posted a 2:13.72 to win by almost a second on the women’s side. Germany’s Jacob Heidtmann earned the win for the men’s race, going 2:02.84 after a strong freestyle leg.

Other winners

  • Mathys Goosen took the men’s 50 fly in a very tight finish. He was 23.67, followed closely by Damian Wierling (23.88) and Jan Sefl (23.91).
  • In the women’s 400 free, Valentine Dumont edged ahead of Isabel Gose, 4:12.07 to 4:12.71.
  • Ben Schwietert was 49.42 to win the men’s 100 free, leading five others under the 50-second barrier.
