USAFA, Colo. – Air Force Academy women’s swimming senior Kylie Stronko has been selected as a recipient of a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Following graduation later this month, Stronko will head to Georgetown University to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies.
“I am incredibly honored to have received the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and to have the opportunity to continue to represent the Air Force and the Air Force Academy at a high-level institution,” Stronko exclaimed. “I will eternally be grateful for my time at USAFA and with Air Force Athletics, as I would not have earned this opportunity without its lessons in leadership and of perseverance, as well as the institution’s dedication to providing cadets with near-endless possibilities for higher learning. Thank you to my coaches and my professors for always pushing me towards higher goals and for their continued investment in my personal success.”
The NCAA awards up to 126 postgraduate scholarships annually. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
The one-time non-renewable scholarships are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring). Each sports season there are 21 scholarships available for men and 21 scholarships available for women for use in an accredited graduate program.
Stronko adds this honor to her already impressive list of athletic and academic accomplishments in her four year AF career. She departs the Academy as a three-time All-Conference swimmer, a three-time Academic All-MW honoree, and was the winner of the 2021 MW Senior Recognition Award. The 2021 team captain is also the program record holder in both the 100 (54.43) and 200 backstroke (1:57.40).
Stronko, a native of Woodbridge, Va., will graduate Wednesday, May 26, with her degree in foreign area studies with a political science track, as well as a minor in Portuguese. She has been selected to be an Intelligence Officer following her time in grad school.
