Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura And All The Info We Know So Far About The Opening Ceremony In Paris

The Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics begin tomorrow, Friday July 26th at 7:30 pm local time in Paris. Lady Gaga and Aya Nakamura are scheduled to perform during the ceremony.

Where Will The Opening Ceremony Take Place?

The opening ceremony will be the first time that it does not take place in a stadium. Instead, the ceremony will be a parade of boats carrying the athletes on them as they parade down the Seine River, the 2nd longest river in France, through the heart of Paris. The Seine is home to the open water competition during week two of the Games but has been known for its pollution and sewage levels after heavy rain.

Opening Ceremony Parade Map:

The beginning of the ceremony will pass the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral while the ceremonial parade will conclude near the Eiffel Tower. The total length of the parade of athletes will be 6 km long. A total of almost 100 boats are expected to carry about 10,500 athletes. Larger teams will have boats to themselves while smaller squads will share boats.

What Will The Athletes Wear?

The athletes will all be wearing different attire as designed by their respective countries. See the athlete gear hauls here. The US notably will be wearing Ralph Lauren.

Who Is Scheduled To Perform?

American singer Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform during the ceremony along with Aya Nakamura from France and Celine Dion of Canada. Gaga notably performed at the Superbowl in 2017 while Nakamura is the most listened to French speaking artist in the World.

How Can You Watch The Opening Ceremony?

Over 200,000 free tickets were provided for the upper banks of the Seine while over 100,000 tickets were available on the lower end of the river. If you are in Paris but will not attend the event in person, over 80 big TV screens will be set up throughout the city.

While in the closing ceremony of the Olympics, during the handover segment of LA2028, I guess Paris Hilton (her namesake) will perform, along with LA born singer Billie Eilish!
