Kyle Tilley, a swim coach at the Lakeside Aquatic Club near Dallas/Fort Worth, passed away over the weekend in a car crash.
According to dallasnews.com, Tilley was driving around 11:40 P.M. on Saturday when “another car driving at high speed hit the rear of (his) car.”
Tilley’s car went off the road and rolled, and he died at the scene. A passenger in his car was flown to the Medical Center of Plano with serious injuries.
A trooper who came to Tilley’s parents’ home on Sunday described the incident as a case of road rage, according to his parents, and assured them that Kyle had done nothing wrong.
Tilley is listed on the team’s website as an age group coach at the Flower Mound site, and he also was a coach for the Flower Mound High School swimming and water polo teams. Tilley swam collegiately at Division II Ouachita Baptist in Arkansas, where he also served a season as an assistant coach.
Condolences, thought and prayers to Lakeside Aquatic Club, and to the family on the tragic loss of this wonderful young man!
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Coach Kyle always had a big smile on his face, so many of our swimmers will be turning their caps inside out and drawing a smiley face on it with “KT” to honor him. Your swimmers are welcome to join us in honoring Kyle this way.
My friend knew kyle very well and was crying today. Kyle was such a great person and would not want her to cry. I told her that and she stopped crying but i knew he was still on her mind. We love you!
Rest in peace Tilley!! We will never forget you!
Tilley, you will be greatly missed! <3 You!
I knew Kyle. He was a great guy. Had such a positive and upbeat attitude that would immediately affect your own just by being in his presence. This is such a tragedy. The world is a lesser place without him. My thoughts go out to all that knew him. We’ll miss you buddy.
Terrible news. My prayers and thoughts go out to Kyle’s family, his swimmers, and his co-workers at LAC.
