Below is a press release submitted by the Edmond, Oklahoma Pro-Am
The fastest woman ever in the 50 yard free at :21.27 seconds, Lara Jackson, will join the likes of fellow AR holder Nathan Adrian and over 50 other Pros and Olympic hopefuls 4 weeks from now at the Edmond OK Pro-Am. Lara, who is making a comeback with the Auburn pro group, will face a field including Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace for the $5000 prize at the OK 50 free shootout on Saturday night, December 20th.
Just 3 weeks ago Jackson placed 2nd to Vanderpool-Wallace at the Fastest Woman in Texas Shootout. Vanderpool-Wallace won the $5000 with a :22.0 and Lara won 2nd place and $2000 with at :22.2. It will most likely take a :21 to win the $5000 at the OK Shootout. Lara will also swim the 100 yard fly on Friday, December 19th and the 100 yard free on Sunday, December 20th.
Jackson, who some consider to have one of the fastest starts in swimming, has said this of her comeback that “Obviously, just missing the Olympic team in 2008 and 2012 were big hurdles mentally. All of us go through adversity and disappointments and I just needed a break. But after two years off, I can honestly say I love swimming now more than ever and am thankful for the opportunity to continue racing with friends and look forward to inspiring the next generation of swimmers.”
