Laszlo Cseh Wins On Day 2 Of Hungarian Championships

The second day of the 2015 Hungarian Open Championships included four finals and a few other semi-final races. Today was the first day of racing for Hungarian superstar, Katinka Hosszu, although it was one of the lightest day she’s had in a long time. Her only event was the 100 backstroke. She posted the top time out of prelims with a 59.83 but scratched before the semi-finals of the event.

The first win of the day went to Edoardo Giorgetti of Italy in the men’s 100 breaststroke. He stole the event out from Hungarian’s with his time of 1:02.07.

The first women’s final of the day was one buy Alys Thomas. She was one of four that broke one minute in her 100 butterfly, winning the event with a final time of 59.13.

After the semifinals of the men’s 100 backstroke and the women’s 100 breaststroke. Hungary’s five-time Olympic medalist Laszlo Cseh won the men’s 50 butterfly with a time of 23.81.

Immediatley following the men’s 50 butterfly, the women competed in the semifinals of the 100 backstroke and men competed in the men’s 200 freestyle.

The final event of the day was won by Zsuzsanna Zakabos with her 200 IM time of 2:12.44.

Hosszu wrote this on her facebook page: This morning I swam a 59,89 in the 100 back at the Hungarian Nationals in Györ. I’m really happy with this time, because I was only 5 tents off my National Record. Even though it’s not like me, I won’t be swimming any other races this year at our Nationals. It was a hard decision for us, because I love racing in Hungary in front of the home crowd, but in consideration for our long term goals, this is the smartest move.
