Leah Hayes was at it again today, swimming a 2:14.39 in the 200 free to beat her own NAG record that she set just two weeks ago.
Swimming at the Central Mega Zones at IUPUI this weekend, Hayes has already broken the 50 breast and 100 free NAG records. Her old 200 free record was a 2:14.87.
Splits:
- Hayes, last weekend, old record: 31.27/33.96/35.17/34.47 (2:14.87)
- Hayes, this weekend, new record: 31.87/34.51/34.82/33.19 (2:14.39)
Hayes had a much smarter race this time around, with a considerably quicker final 100 thanks to her impressive final 50.
Hayes first broke Claire Tuggle’s record by 1.5 seconds, a huge improvement to Tuggle’s mark, and now has taken it down with her 2:14.39. Hayes won the race by a little more than four seconds– 2nd went to Adele Zyniewicz, who set the 50 free NAG record recently, then had Hayes break it last weekend, and then took it back again this weekend. Zyniewicz touched in 2:18.76.
Hayes has been representing Team Illinois and Zyniewicz Team Indiana at these Zones Championships. Below, all of our reports from the NAG frenzy in the midwest this weekend.
Good swim. Too bad Efimova is a drug cheat.
Looks like she held back a little on the first half this time, nice strategy!
