Ledecky, Dwyer Topping Pro Swim Series Points After Minneapolis

The early front-runners in the 2015-2016 Arena Pro Swim Series are Katie Ledecky and Conor Dwyereach of whom holds a 3-point lead.

Ledecky was the biggest winner in Minneapolis, picking up three wins and a third-place to take 16 points in total. That correlates to $3200 in prize money, though Ledecky can only accept enough prize money to cover expenses as she’s maintaining her amateurism status to eventually swim for Stanford.

Ledecky is 3 points ahead of Missy Franklinwho won two races and took second in another.

Matching Franklin’s 13 points is Dwyer, who leads Chase Kalisz and Nathan Adrian by 3. Both Kalisz and Adrian won two events to earn 10 points and $2000.

Arena Pro Swim Series Points/Money System

Series points and prize money are given out to the top 3 finishers in each Olympic-distance event. (The men’s 800 free, women’s 1500 free, and 50s of the non-free strokes do not earn points or money, despite being swum at some of the Pro Swim Series meets).

The awards are as follows:

  • 1st place = 5 points = $1000
  • 2nd place = 3 points = $600
  • 3rd place = 1 point = $200

At the end of the series, the top male and female finishers will earn a $10,000 bonus. The top finishers will also earn a 1-year lease of a BMW – but that lease award can only go to U.S. citizen. If the points winner is not a U.S. citizen, the lease will go to the highest eligible swimmer.

*As a reminder: the money listed in these rankings is “money earned,” not necessarily “money accepted.” Athletes maintaining their amateurism status are not necessarily accepting all the prize money they earned.
