The heat sheets are out for the first session of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, and Katie Ledecky has scratched out of the prelims of the women’s 400 IM. She was the fifth seed in the event.
As recently as yesterday, Ledecky said that she and her coach Bruce Gemmell were still deciding whether she would compete in the event.
Becca Mann, the fourth seed, made a similar decision to drop the event to focus on her distance freestyle schedule.
The top seed going into the women’s 400 IM is Maya DiRado, who comes into the race with a 4:31.71; Elizabeth Beisel is close behind with 4:31.99, followed by Caitlin Leverenz with 4:35.46.
Ledecky’s schedule now includes all of the freestyle events, including an atypical 50 free with prelims on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Her first swim, the 400 free, will come on Monday morning.
Tomorrow morning will start off with the prelims of the men’s 400 IM, followed by the women’s 100 fly, the men’s 400 free, the women’s 400 IM, and the men’s 100 breast. The top 8 swimmers in the 400s will go straight to finals tomorrow evening, while the 100 fly and 100 breast will take 16 qualifiers to the semi-finals.
You can watch the session one prelims tomorrow morning on NBC Sports Live at 10 am Central/ 11 Eastern. Highlights from the session will also be televised at 6 Eastern tomorrow night on NBC Sports Network.
Where’s a link to live results?
As an Aussie i’m very interested in how Lochte does in the 400m IM. Legend of a swimmer, has he got anything special left in the tank.
I’m curious how being an Aussie affects your interest; the only thing it did was made me read your comment in an Australian accent 🙂
Is it me or are some of the entries missing on the psych sheet? Like for the men’s 400 IM it says there are 10 heats but there are only 5 listed.
Heat sheet I mean
Oh it is split! Never mind 🙂
As expected
Small typo on Caitlin Leverenz’s time…3:35.46 ?
