Lehigh Mountain Hawks Snag Verbal from Sprinter Evie Gieseman

Evie Gieseman, a senior at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, has committed to swim at Lehigh University. “Proud to announce my verbal commitment to Lehigh University! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for all the support. Go Mountain Hawks!”

Gieseman specializes in sprint freestyle and was the runner-up in both the 50 free and 100 free at the 2016 Virginia 6A Liberty Conference 6 Championships. She then went on to place 8th in each event at the VHSL 6A State Meet. She also anchored the 200 medley relay (24.05) and led off the 200 free relay (24.42).

Gieseman swims year-round for Arlington Aquatics Club. She swam the 50 free, 50 back, and 50 fly at the 2016 NCSA Spring Swimming Championships. At the summer version of the same meet she competed in the 50/100/200m free, 100m back, and 100m fly. Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 24.33
  • 100 free – 52.82
  • 200 free – 1:55.96
  • 50 back – 28.81
  • 100 back – 1:01.50
  • 50 fly – 27.00
  • 200 IM – 2:19.44
