Lehigh Receives Commitments from Amy Qin and Sarah Horne for 2018-19

Amy Qin of Trabuco Canyon, California and Sarah Horne or Wayne, New Jersey have both indicated they will swim for Lehigh University next fall. Also verbally committed to the Mountain Hawks’ class of 2022 is Annie Norris of Houston, Texas.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to Lehigh University. I’m very looking forward to swimming completely and also getting good education here. I believe I will enjoy my next four years in the Lehigh community.”

Qin is a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita. She currently swims for Gators Swim Club, after switching over from Mission Viejo Nadadores in the fall of 2017. Qin focuses on breast, IM and sprint free. At the 2017 CIF-Southern Section Championships in May, Qin placed 8th in the 100 breast (1:04.81) before going on to compete at the California State Meet in the event, where she finished 33rd. In club swimming, most of her best times date from the fall of her junior year. She did not compete in long course meets this summer but swam at both Age Group Championships and CA/NV Sectionals in December.

Sarah Horne

Horne attends Immaculate Heart Academy in Township of Washington, New Jersey, and was part of the team that won the National Catholic Swimming & Diving Championships last weekend at Loyola University in Maryland. Horne contributed a 2nd-place finish in the 100 fly (57.83 ) and a 7th in the 50 free (24.66) individually, and swam legs on the winning 200 medley relay (25.90 butterfly) and runner-up 200 free relay (24.71 leadoff). Horne swims year-round for Wyckoff YMCA, where she specializes in free, fly, and IM. She notched a slew of PBs in December at the New Jersey Swimming Holiday Classic, and updated her LCM times in the 50 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, and 200 fly at 2017 YMCA Long Course Nationals this summer.
