Lena Grabowski Breaks 2:10 in 200 BK, Chomps AUT Record Twice on Euros Day 6

2021 LEN EUROPEAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

During the prelims of the women’s 200 back on day 6 of the 2021 European Championships, Austrian Lena Grabowski broke her own national record with a time of 2:09.12 to qualify second into the semi-finals. Later on in the first semi-final, Grabowski lowered her hours-old mark again with a 2:08.60 to qualify second again into tomorrow’s final. This is Grabowski’s first swim under 2:10 in the LCM 200 back. She now enters the top-15 times in the world for the 2020-2021 season.

Grabowski’s former national record was swam at the Berlin stop of the 2019 World Cup Series, where she placed second in the event final at 2:10.06. Breaking down her split comparison, Grabowski improved her second 50 split during her prelims record swim while her semi-finals record saw improvements in both the 2nd 50 and the final 50. Today alone, Grabowski dropped a total of 1.46s off her 200 back personal best.

Grabowski’s swim tonight also got under the FINA Olympic A cut of 2:10.39 heading into tonight’s final, led by Italian Margherita Panziera (2:07.61).
