Lenny Krayzelburg Gives Perspective on Men’s Backstrokes, the Olympic Mindset

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman HodgesGarrett McCaffrey, and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

Backstroke legend Lenny Krayzelburg sat down with SwimSwam to give his perspective on the 2020 Olympic Games. Lenny was been in a similar boat as Ryan Murphy was heading into these Olympics – defending champion in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. He comments on what it’s like to be in that position, how he handled himself heading into the 2004 Games, and what he saw from Murphy in these Games. I’ll be honest though.
The hands-down best part of this conversation is when I ask Lenny “So how do you balance having a great swim for you but not winning the race?” and he didn’t really have an answer because Lenny mostly just won races.
