Lewczyk, Hwang, and Horvath Commit to Northwestern Men

The Northwestern men have added another trio of swimmers to their recruiting class, with Peter Lewczyk, Dong Hwang, and George Horvath all committing to join the Wildcats next season. Lewczyk and Horvath will be making the move to Northwestern from California, while Hwang will head to Northwesterns from his home base in Hawaii.

GEORGE HORVATH:

Horvath is currently based in California, where he trains with the Mission Viejo Nadadores and attends University High School. He was a medalist at the 2016 California CIF Southern State Championships, where he finished 3rd in the 500 free. During the long course season, he was the 800 free champion and 400 IM silver medalist at the 2016 Futures Championships (Stanford). He also competed in the 1500 free at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Horvath’s Top Times:

  • 200 free- 1:40.97
  • 500 free- 4:26.48
  • 1650 free- 15:19.14
  • 100 fly- 52.77
  • 200 fly- 1:49.54
  • 200 IM- 1:53.65
  • 400 IM- 3:57.53

PETER LEWCZYK:

Lewczyk, a native of California, is currently a swimmer for North Bay Aquatics. He’ll be making the move to Evanston after he graduates from Saint Ignatius Prep School. Last season, Lewczyk was a multi-event qualifier for the 2016 California CIF State Championships, where he placed 11th in the 100 free and 22nd in the 50 free. In the long course pool, he qualified to compete at the 2016 Futures Championships (Stanford), where he helped his team to a top 8 finish with his 52.83 leadoff split on their 400 free relay.

  • 200 free- 1:42.14
  • 100 back- 52.99
  • 100 fly- 51.14
  • 200 IM- 1:54.30

DONG HWANG:

Hwang currently trains with Manoa Aquatics and is a senior at Kalani High School. Last season, he was a 2-time medalist at the 2016 Hawaii State Championships. There, he was the 500 free champion and the runner-up in the 200 IM. Hwang then went on to medal in the 1500 meter free with his 3rd place finish at the 2016 Futures Championships (Stanford).

  • 500 free- 4:32.76
  • 1000 free- 9:28.38
  • 1650 free- 15:36.15
  • 200 IM- 1:56.75.
  • 400 IM- 4:05.22
