LIAC 12-Year-Old Reid O’Connell Swims 1:58.79 200 IM, #11 All-Time 11-12 Boys

Long Island Aquatic Club hosted a meet this past weekend in East Meadow. LIAC 12-year-old Reid O’Connell lit the meet up, swimming personal bests in all 6 of his events. Swimming in the open events, O’Connell posted a 23.33 in the 50 free, 57.30 in the 100 back, 1:57.86 in the 200 back, 56.99 in the 100 fly, 2:04.97 in the 200 fly, and 1:58.79 in the 200 IM. Two of those swims were historically fast, as O’Connell now ranks #11 all-time in the 200 IM in the 11-12 boys age group, and his 200 back ranks #17.

15-year-old Manoli Mountantonakis from LIAC also put together an excellent meet. He took 2nd in the mixed open 100 free, clocking a new personal best of 47.47. He won the open 200 back (1:52.55), 200 IM (1:56.03), and 100 back (50.73). Mountantonakis also swam a huge personal best of 2:12.47 in the 200 breast, finishing 4th.

LIAC’s Alvin Tsai (17) was dominant in the sprint free events, claiming victory in the 50, 100, and 200 free. In the 50 free, Tsai swam a 21.44. He also clocked 47.15 in the 100 free, and 1:43.21 in the 200.

Other Notable Swims:

  • LIAC 12-year-old Ryan Baldwin clocked a 24.27 in the boys 50 free. He also managed a 58.59 in the 100 back, and a 2:00.91 in the 200 fly. His 200 fly puts him #22 all-time in the 11-12 age group.
