Lias Promoted to Navy Women’s Swimming Associate Head Coach

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Navy women’s swimming head coach John Morrison announced today the promotion of Rob Lias Jr. to associate head coach.

Lias is entering his 10th season as a member of the Navy coaching staff. Included among his responsibilities is overseeing the recruiting efforts for the squad. The duo of Morrison and Lias has guided the Mids an 84-18 regular season record and six Patriot League titles — including each of the last four — in their nine years as a staff.

Individually, Lias himself was selected as a 2012 Honorable Mention Assistant Coach of the Year by CollegeSwimming.com.

“We are thrilled with Rob’s well-deserved promotion,” said Morrison. “Ever since he has stepped onto Lejeune Hall pool deck, he has been all-in for Navy. He loyally supports both the mission of the United States Naval Academy and vision of the Navy swimming and diving program. From dryland to pool training to recruiting, Rob has and will continue to make a significant impact into every aspect of the program. We are delighted for Rob and his family and look forward to him continuing to aid in the success for our team.

“I am honored to be named associate head coach at the United States Naval Academy,” said Lias. “I am extremely grateful to be involved with such a tradition rich institution and part of the lives of these amazing women who willingly serve our great country. John has given me the opportunity to grow as a coach, recruiter and a father during my nine years here and I will work as hard as I can to help him continue to
