LYNCHBURG, Va. – For the first time in program history, the Liberty swimming & diving team has swept the CCSA weekly awards. Seniors Kendall Hough and Courtney Fox have been named CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week and Women’s Diver of the Week, respectively.
Liberty has earned CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week three weeks in a row, as Fox’s sister, Brooke Fox, was named Diver of the Week on Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. Hough receives her second career Swimmer of the Week honor, as she also garnered the award on Oct. 14, 2014.
Courtney Fox, a native of Nazareth, Pa., had a record-setting meet at James Madison on Saturday. She set a new program record in three-meter diving, scoring 222.25 points to place fourth overall. In the process, she broke Brooke Fox’s previous record of 212.10. Liberty’s first-ever diver when she joined the program in 2013, Fox finished fifth in one-meter diving with a score of 166.55.
Hailing from Woodbridge, Va., Hough posted two event victories at James Madison. It marked her second straight meet with two wins. She swam a season-best 56.61 to win the 100 back. Hough claimed the 100 back victory in 52.16, edging out the second-place finisher by .01. She also picked up a third-place finish in the 50 free in 24.22. The senior clocked a 24.93 third leg of Liberty’s winning 200 medley relay, as the Lady Flames posted their fastest time this season, 1:45.32.
Fox, Hough and the Lady Flames finish out the fall schedule, Nov. 19-22, when they compete at the Rutgers Invitational.
