LYNCHBURG, Va. – After a record-setting meet at Marshall, Liberty freshman Lauren Chennault has been named CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week.
Chennault is the second Lady Flame to receive CCSA Diver of the Week honors this season, joining Olivia Robinson (Oct. 30). This is the second time in program history that Liberty has had two different divers earn Diver of the Week honors. In 2015, both Brooke Fox and Courtney Fox were named CCSA Diver of the Week.
A native of Coppell, Texas, Chennault had a tremendous showing during Liberty’s two-day, 251-200 win at Marshall last weekend. She earned the first NCAA Zone Qualifying mark of her career, scoring a program-record 287.55 points to win the three-meter diving competition on Saturday. Her three-meter (287.55) and one-meter (258.38) diving scores from the weekend are currently fourth on the CCSA’s 2018-19 top performers list.
Chennault and Robinson (one-meter, three-meter) are the first two divers in program history to qualify for the NCAA Zone Qualifying Meet.
Liberty will host an in-season invitational for the first time in program history, hosting the Liberty Invitational Friday through Sunday. The Lady Flames will get a preview of the meet format for the 2019 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held at the Liberty Natatorium, Feb. 20-23.
