In the last month alone, USA Swimming’s list of official US Olympic Trials qualifiers has increased nearly 3% to grow to 942 qualified swimmers. With just over a year remaining to qualify for the meet, they are on track to catch their match their number of participants from the 2012 US Olympic Trails with 1,831 participating athletes.
Below is a list of all of the qualifiers to date for the 2016 Olympic Trial, as well as a list of all the 18&under qualifiers in each event.
2016 MEN’S OLYMPIC TRIALS QUALIFIERS
Regan Smith is 13 and from MN and she has qualified in two events as well. Congrats Regan!
Why is there a list for the 18 & U?
it would be interesting to see the breakdown by state and how many athletes are from each, which state is best in what event etc.
Pkok – that would be interesting, but nearly an impossible chore. We could, however, probably look into a breakdown by LSC. If LSC borders fell along state borders, we could do by state, but many LSCs overlap multiple states.
By LSC would be awesome.
And someone like Missy Franklin, you put her in California or in Colorado? 🙂
Wherever the club is geographically located that she is representing.
I believe USA swimming has a list such as that.

While I agree that the US is weak in sprinting, I don’t think this is an indication of doom for the future, but rather just confirmation of the fact that sprinters peak later in their career than others.
and the event with the fewest 18 and under boys is the 100 free, looks like the lack of sprinters frequently discussed here is not going to be fixed anytime soon
I think it would be cool is there was a list of 35+ qualifiers in addition to 18&U
I agree. Because that’s a different level of bad-ass.
You’ve got it!
