Louisville Receives Verbal Commitment from In-State Fly/IMer, Kelly Tichenor

Kelly Tichenor, a rising senior at North Oldham High School in Gosham, Kentucky, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Louisville’s class of 2022:

“Excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville! Thankful for all the support and can’t wait to be a Card #gocards”

Tichenor represented North Oldham at the 2017 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships, helping the Mustangs achieve a third-place team finish with a 3rd in the 200 IM (2:02.35), a 5th in the 100 fly (55.04), a 24.23 butterfly leg on the second-place medley relay, and a 23.25 anchor on the runner-up 200 free relay.

No stranger to the Louisville pool, Tichenor currently swims for the Cardinal Aquatics club team under the tutelage of head coach Amy Albiero. At the 2016 Speedo Winter Junior Championships East last December, Tichenor competed in the 200 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM, and reached the C final of the butterfly. She also anchored CARD’s 200 and 400 free relays and swam fly on the 200 and 400 medley relays; all four relays finished in the top 8.

Top SCY times:

  • 200 IM – 2:02.35
  • 400 IM – 4:22.76
  • 100 fly – 55.03
  • 200 fly – 2:03.71
  • 200 back – 2:01.86

Tichenor will join fellow commit Alena Kraus on the Louisville roster in the fall of 2018.
