The Louisville Cardinals have filled the vacant spot on their coaching staff, chosing alumni Stephanie Juncker as their new assistant coach. She replaces Rachel Komisarz-Baugh, who left to take the head coaching job at the University of Ohio. Juncker is expected to begin later this week, pending completion of final paperwork.
The 24-year old Juncker completed her NCAA career in 2012, where she was a Big East scorer and finished 3rd in the 400 IM as a senior at the conference meet.
After completing her education at Louisville, she pursued a Masters’ degree at Arkansas, where she was the Director of Swimming and Diving Operations. She also worked as a counselor at the “Bauerle Bulldog” summer swim camps, and as the head coach of the Polo Field Country Club in Louisville.
A former Cardinals’ team captain, she was part of the leadership group as this program really soared to unprecedented heights.
As an athlete, Juncker developed a reputation as a very hard worker, and legend has it that she can do the IM cross over turn in both directions – not an easy skill to conquer.
Sooooo… still no distance coach.
18 events… 15 of those 18 events are 200 and under. If you have a test and you know that 15/18 questions will be on a specific subject…where will you spend the majority of your time studying?
Obviously knowing the material for all 18 questions would be ideal…but if you err on the side of the 15 you’ll still be in very good shape.
Steph is going to rock Louisville! She was a great athlete and she is a CARDINAL at heart! She knows what it takes to be apart of a winning program, she has always immersed herself in those arenas. CONGRATS!!!
