Luca Urlando Swims #9 Fastest in NCAA Ever 100 Fly; 44.41

Georgia sophomore Luca Urlando swam the #9 fastest 100 butterfly in the NCAA history ever. Urlando swam to a final time of 44.41 to capture the win for the Bulldogs at the 2022 SEC Championships tonight.

That was a huge personal best for Urlando as his previous best time was a 44.97 which he swam at SEC’s last year. He now moves up from #32 to #10.

Urlando won the event in commanding fashion as Florida’s Eric Friese finished second in 44.86.

Top 10 NCAA 100 Fly All-Time

  2. Joe Schooling, 43.75
  3. Austin Staab, 44.18
  4. Ryan Hoffer, 44.24
  5. Nicholas Albiero, 44.32/ Youssef Ramadan, 44.32

  9. Luca Urlando, 44.41

Urlando now sits just ahead of Camden Murphy who holds the #10 time now of 44.42. Murphy graduated from Georgia in 2021.

Tennesee’s Jordan Crooks also highlighted the 100 butterfly at SEC’s tonight as he swam to a third place finish in a time of 45.33 That time places him at #10 for freshman all-time in the event. The race was a huge best time for Crooks as his previous best prior to this morning was a 47.06 which he swam in a dual meet last month.

Dont you know? The ACC isnt a top level swimming conference like the Pac 12 or SEC. Theres just not the same top end speed or team depth….

Oh wait… we saw the top 2 womens teams last year from the ACC and many ACC mens teams in the top 10 constantly.
