Lucca Martins Gives Verbal to NC State

North Carolina State University has nabbed another verbal commitment, this time from Californian Lucca Martins.  Martins currently attends Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, while also competing for Palto Alto Stanford Aquatics.

Martins brings an arsenal of talent to Raleigh, having clocked impressive times across several events over his short course yards career.  Notable times include his personal best of 1:47.00 in the 200y butterfly, 1:48.75 in the 200y IM and 1:39.97 in the 200y freestyle.  But Martins also has some long-distance endurance to bring to the table, as his personal best 1000y freestyle sits at 9:10.86.

As for why he verbally committed to the Wolfpack, Martins states that, “On my recruiting trip I felt at home. The swimmers on the team and the coaches welcomed us with open arms, and I loved that. Everyone that’s a part of this program is extremely passionate in what they do and I know with that being said I will be able to thrive not only inside the pool but in the classroom as well. To me, it just made complete sense.”
