Lynn University Gains Commitment From Sprinter Lily Drons (2024)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Lily Drons has announced her commitment to further her education and swimming career at Lynn University, beginning this upcoming fall with the 2024-2025 season. Drons hails from Estero, Florida, where she attends Estero High School and trains year-round with the Gulf Coast Swim Team.

I chose Lynn because of the amazing coaches and beautiful location!”

Drons is primarily a sprint freestyle specialist with range from the 50 up to the 200. This spring, she wrapped up her short course season at the Florida Spring Senior Championships, where her top placing event was the 50 freestyle. She stopped the clock at 25.00 for 78th, which puts her just a few tenths shy of her personal best from this past December.

She ended her long course season last summer at the LCM version of the Florida Senior Championships. She took 29th in both the 400m free (4:51.91) and 50m back (34.43), both in best time fashion. She also established personal bests across the sprint free events, clocking times of 29.70, 1:03.78, and 2:17.26.

In the fall, Drons represented her high school at the Florida High School State Championship meet (2A). In the 100 free, she notched a personal best time of 53.72 en route to a 7th place finish, while in the 200 free she stopped the clock at 1:58.23 in finals for 11th overall.

Lynn University, located in Boca Rotan, is a NCAA Division II program in the Sunshine State Conference. Lynn finished 3rd as a team at the 2024 Sunshine State Conference this past February. It took 24.36 and 53.13 to advance to finals in the 50 and 100 free this year, putting Drons right on the edge of scoring range.

Sprint freestyle was a strong event group for Lynn last season with Laura Dekoninck taking home the Sunshine State Conference titles in both the 50 (22.53) and 100 (49.97). Luna Mertins was the runner-up finisher in the 50 (22.87), while Malaika Schneider finished 4th in the 100 (51.07).

Drons joins Ally Webster, Lydia Douthit, Ella Mruk, and Maggie Morse in Lynn’s incoming class of 2028 this fall.
