Lyrio and Oliveira Post Strong Times at Brazilian State Championships

Several states in Brazil held their championship meets over this past weekend. One of the most impressive results came from Sao Paulo where Manuella Lyrio and teammate Larissa Olivera battled for the top spot in the women’s 200 freestyle.

Lyrio who finished 15th in the event at the World Championships in Kazan, won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:59.29 followed by Olivera who posted a 1:59.61. The times are impressive as there have only been a few South American women who have dipped under the two minute mark in the event.

Lyrio also took the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:14.45.

At the same championship competition Joanna Maranhao collected gold in four events. Maranhao won the 200 (2:16.55) and 400 IM (4:45.09) as well as the 200 butterfly (2:14.73) and the 800 freestyle (8:41.37).
