Maccabi USA Seeking Jewish Swimmers, Coaches for 2019 Regional Games

Philadelphia, PA – Maccabi USA is seeking Jewish swimmers and coaches to represent the United States at the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games in Mexico City, Mexico, July 5-15, 2019 and the 15th European Maccabi Games in Budapest, Hungary, July 29-August 7, 2019. Maccabi USA will be fielding a Juniors (birth years 2002-2004) male and female, Open (ages 18-35) male and female, and Masters (35+) male and female teams for the Pan American Maccabi Games; a Juniors (birth years 2001-2005) male and female, Open (ages 18-35) male and female, and Masters (35+) male and female teams for the European Maccabi Games. The Games are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and the Confederacion Latinoamericana Maccabi (CLAM) respectively. Both Games are conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union and are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held. The Pan American and European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora.

Tonja Magerman, Team USA Chair, 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games Organizing Committee, and Debbie Adams, Team USA Chair, 2019 European Maccabi Games Organizing Committee, are recruiting volunteers for to serve as Sports Chairs on their respective committees and help recruit qualified athletes and coaches. The Organizing Committee will field two individual USA Teams of approximately 700 participants strong.

“The 2019 Regional Games provide individuals a unique opportunity to represent Team USA,” said Program Director Shane Carr. “There is an indescribable feeling of pride as you march in with the delegation wearing red, white, and blue. Together we will make life-long memories alongside our Jewish counterparts from around the world, who share a common love for sports.”
