In-Stater MacKenzie Artim Verbally Commits to Purdue

MacKenzie Artim of Crown Point High School and Crown Point Swim Club has verbally committed to Purdue University for the 2016-2017 season.

Last year, both her high school 200 medley and 200 free relays were the runners up at Indiana High School Athletics Association Championships. She also took ninth in the 100 free with a 51.81. In her sophomore year, she helped propel Crown Point High School to a second place finish overall, with thirteenth in the 100 free, eighth in the 200 free relay, and second in the 400 free relay. Here are her fastest times to date in short course yards:

  • 50 FR: 24.59
  • 100 FR: 52.16
  • 200 FR: 1:54.11
  • 500 FR: 5:10.05
  • 1000 FR: 10:43.41
  • 1650 FR: 18:00.73
  • 100 BK:  57.65
  • 200 BK: 2:08.92
  • 100 FL: 1:02.38
  • 200 IM: 2:10.46

Last season, under the leadership of coach John Klinge, the Boilermaker women finished fifth of the thirteen teams in the Big 10. So far this season, the team has posted wins in duals against Michigan State, Miami (Ohio), Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Iowa, and they also finished first of eight teams at the Indiana Intercollegiates. They will compete this weekend at home in the Purdue Invitational.

Artim will join fellow in-stater Courtney Kresl in the class of 2020.
